G&T Autobody Competing and Winning on Merit

The Challenge

G&T Autobody, a black woman-owned panel-beater and autobody shop was struggling to compete in a saturated market as it did not have manufacturer approvals for its work and was not on the panels of any major insurer.

The Solution

Their core challenges were addressed through professionalising and capacitating the business. By combining training, mentorship and specialist projects to meet the SME’s specific needs, Edge Growth, through the ASISA ESD Fund, was able to address these challenges directly and overcome critical barriers to market access.

The Impact

  • Key interventions addressing core business challenges were incorporated into the holistic business development support for G&T Autobody, such as selling more actively, digital marketing enhancements and future capacity planning.
  • They graduated having secured two manufacturers’ approvals, becoming a preferred supplier for OUTsurance, and significantly growing monthly turnover.
  • An additional 13 direct jobs were also created.
