TCJ Autobody Pioneers the Way for Women

The Challenge

TCJ Autobody is a 100% black-woman-owned company specialising in auto body repair in a typically male-dominated industry. TCJ faced some serious challenges to keep their business profitable and scale it for future growth. They applied to be part of an Edge Growth managed ESD Programme in 2019.

The Solution

One-on-one mentorship, provided by Edge Growth, took the business back to basics by first identifying the challenges and then helping improve communications, growing the client base, imparting financial knowledge, restructuring systems and assisting with realignment of inventory management processes. Funding from the Edge Growth managed ASISA ESD Fund assisted with working capital and purchase of new equipment.

The Impact

TCJ’s exceptional staff have been upskilled in the new processes and business cashflow has been strategically refocused to position them for growth.
The additional funding enabled vital upgrades to the business which helped expand services offered and thus the client base.
Despite COVID-19, three additional jobs have been created and TCJ is positioned for a stable and scalable future.
