The Challenge

Waste Want is a family-owned recycling business that creates jobs and helps clean up communities. They had outgrown their premises and also needed to restructure processes to scale operations. Lack of finance and business processes held back expansion.

The Solution

Edge Growth, through the ASISA ESD Fund, assisted with a combination of strategic funding for the purchase of more land and equipment, mentoring in business skills, data analysis to inform process flows and investment into company culture.

This has enabled Waste Want to scale its services through a larger geographical footprint and specialised equipment, streamline its work processes so that waste is managed optimally and create a company culture of personal ownership and pride.

The Impact

Waste Want has grown from a home start-up to an established waste management company with two sites.
They actively work with people from the communities they serve to encourage recycling and green job creation using waste products. Their excellent services are sought after by both the informal and formal sectors.
They have shown impressive revenue growth year on year, currently have a core team of 20 staff members and have created over 160 jobs through their well-managed sites.
