We back innovative SMEs that can shape an inclusive and sustainable future for South Africa. By partnering with corporates, funding institutions and impact investors, we channel capital and expertise into high-potential and innovative ventures that will shape our tomorrow, so ideas become outcomes — growth, jobs and measurable impact.
We provide end‑to‑end venture capital, corporate venturing and fund management solutions that combine commercial discipline with clear impact. We use developmental and transformational capital as the vehicle for impact investment and our approach turns capital into sustained SME growth.
Beyond early‑stage finance, we work alongside founders through dedicated post‑investment support — focusing on go‑to‑market, operations, governance, market access and capital readiness — so SMEs can scale with confidence.
We specialise in venture impact funding for early‑ and growth‑stage businesses that advance positive social, environmental and economic outcomes. Investors gain a balanced blend of both purpose and profit, with clear performance and impact reporting aligned to objectives such as ESG, UN SDGs, transformation and inclusion.
Transformation funding removes barriers to black wealth creation and inclusive economic growth. Solutions include standalone ESD funding, ring‑fenced ESD funds and options that support organisations in achieving black ownership — building resilient value chains while advancing transformation.
Managing multiple SME funds with distinct mandates is core to our work. Our portfolio includes the Vumela ESD Fund, ASISA ESD Fund, Action ESD Fund, SAB Thrive Fund, Abadali EEIP Fund and Ignite Fund — all established to support the growth of high‑potential SMEs in South Africa. Through developmental and ESD funding from corporate investors, we can back businesses that may not meet conventional criteria, helping drive economic growth and job creation. We manage over R2bn in SME funds and have deployed almost R1.5bn to hundreds of businesses across our portfolio.
This social venture capital fund was pioneered with FirstRand Group investments to facilitate their SME development and was the first fund of its kind in South Africa.

The Ignite Fund offers SMEs access to a variety of funding options (mostly short and medium term) ranging from R50k to R5m, which are typically not available through traditional banks. It provides financial solutions such as interest-free loans (in some instances), capital for purchase orders, working capital, operational expenditure, small capex, and expansion capital.
Additionally, Ignite incorporates SME-specific risk profiling and pricing to ensure affordability and supports businesses post-investment to help them scale independently.
